Odessa on Pages of Books

Odessa on Pages of Books is a one-of-a-kind book contest both thematically and conceptually.

The cultural phenomenon and history of Odessa is a rich source for fiction, scientific and popular-scientific literature for the drama, memoirs, biographic and regional studies. The books about Odessa represent a large corpus of publications that is augmented every year. This was what led to the start of the contest ‘Odessa on Pages of Books’.

Thousands of books, a plenty of which being truly unique, rare and valuable, have been esteemed over the previous years.

Themes of the contest – Odessa as a subject of regional studies; Odessa as a scene in the text; biographies of Odessa natives and people related to Odessa; authors` belonging to Odessa literary school etc.

The following can be presented:
• various publications (a book, brochure, album, anthology etc.)
• different kinds, genres of writings, fiction and non-fiction literature
• works of the classics (also revised editions)
• writings of contemporary authors.

The contest admits book products that are published in Odessa, other cities and countries, and that correspond to the theme. The fiction, scientific, local lore, educational value of books is assessed.
